Of course I need all this, honey. Honest. Think of the money we'll save. We can spend some quality time together in the kitchen. And wouldn't that 32 litre brewing pot look really good on our new stove?

Brewing Equipment Frequently Asked Questions

I’m just starting out, what essential equipment do I need?
For beginners, the easiest way to start is with a Brewshop Starter Kit. At a minimum, you need a fermenter, an airlock, a tap, a thermometer, and a hydrometer to measure your alcohol content. You’ll also need sanitiser (like StellarSan) because cleanliness is the most important part of brewing!
What is the difference between a "Basic" and "Standard" starter kit?
Our Basic Kit includes the core essentials: a 30L fermenter, airlock, hydrometer, and cleaning supplies. The Standard Kit builds on this by adding more convenient tools, often including bottling equipment or specific ingredients to help you hit the ground running with your first 23-litre batch.
Should I choose a plastic or stainless steel fermenter?
Plastic fermenters are affordable, lightweight, and perfect for beginners. However, stainless steel fermenters (like the Ss Brewtech range) are more durable, easier to sanitise, and won't absorb odours or scratch easily. If you're planning to brew long-term, stainless is a fantastic investment in beer quality.
What are the benefits of an all-in-one system like the BrewZilla?
All-in-one systems like the BrewZilla Gen 4 simplify the "all-grain" brewing process. They combine the mash tun, sparge water heater, and boil kettle into a single electric unit with precise digital temperature control. It saves space, reduces cleaning time, and makes your brew day much more consistent.
Do you ship brewing hardware and large equipment NZ-wide?
Yes! We ship all our brewing equipment throughout New Zealand. We offer flat-fee shipping for many regions (like the Waikato) and work with reliable couriers to ensure your gear—from small fittings to large 50L kettles—arrives safely and quickly at your doorstep.
Can I upgrade my kit for pressure brewing later?
Absolutely. Many brewers start with standard atmospheric fermentation and later move to pressure fermentation using equipment like the FermZilla. This allows you to ferment faster and carbonate your beer directly in the vessel, reducing the risk of oxygen exposure and improving hop aroma.
